Phase transitions in social networks
We study a model of network with clustering and desired node degree. The original purpose of the model was to describe optimal structures of scientific collaboration in the European Union. The model belongs to the family of exponential random graphs. We show by numerical simulations and analytical considerations how a very simple Hamiltonian can lead to surprisingly complicated and eventful phase

متن کاملPhase Transitions in Logic Networks
Randomly connected networks of Boolean logic functions of fixed in-degree (" Kauffman Nets ") are analyzed using an annealed approximation. While these nets originated as models of genetic regulatory networks, the conclusions and observations obtained by treating them as a complex type of spin system are relevant beyond the purview of genetics and have applications in the construction and contr...
متن کاملModels of Social Phase Transitions
Social phenomena can exhibit drastic changes with small changes in external parameters––phase transitions. Furthermore, physical models can be applied to social systems because most of the small details can be ignored just as in physical systems. Many models have been used and developed, most notable network models. However empirical data and their interpretation are not yet good enough to make...
متن کاملRoad networks with phase transitions
This paper is devoted to a hyperbolic 2–phase model for traffic flow on a network. The model is rigorously described and the existence of solutions is proved, without any restriction on the network geometry. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 35L65, 90B20.
